Cluster Swap Done

Well I just finished swapping out my XLT custer for an FX4 cluster and am really liking how it looks. I do have one question though. I wasn't planning on istalling it but just seeing how many miles were on the new cluster but when I pluggged it in everything semed to work perfectly (A/C, door chime, etc.). So my question is if everything works should I even bother with getting the As-Bulit data programmed into the new one? And is there anything that I am missing that the cluster should be controlling?

Thanks
Zach

Well here are some night pics of the new cluster. I will try and get some day pics tomorrow. Maybe this will help the thread get some more views.

other than the mileage issue and title...you are in the gray area right now about legality...can soon swing to totally illegal if you don't get the dash reprogrammed with the right mileage

looks good

So what was the swap process like, besides the physical swap (i.e. reprogramming, costs, etc). Little more info please.

Did the cluster show the truck mileage or the cluster mileage when you powered it up?

Well I'm not too worried about the mileage being off cause if I ever trade it in or whatever all I have to do it tell tham that the mileage isn't correct and give them the actual mileage.

Well you wouldn't want my cluster cause I kinda messed it up when I was trying to change the color of the lights and that is why I got this new one. But there are some XLT cluster on Ebay for around $50.

The new cluster showed the mileage that was on the truck that it was taken out of.

Ya thats the thing I didn't actually have any programming done to the new cluster. I just plugged it in and everything seemed to work fine so I just decided not to worry about programming unless someone can tell me why I should worry about it. So total cost so far which would just be the cluster was $158.

That would be a HUGE red flag for me and I wouldnt buy the truck. All it will say on the title is the NOT ACTUAL MILEAGE...that could mean it has 3 times as many miles on it as it is showing. Plus it will show up on Carfax as being wrong. Get it programed to show the correct miles.

I had my FX4 cluster replaced by the dealer under warranty. They ordered the replacement at the miles displayed on my broken cluster. Between ordering and installing about 400 miles elapsed. The dealer was unable to reprogram the new cluster to reflect the correct miles. I was not happy. And a little baffled why the dealer did not have this capability.
