a/c shut off

i have an 04 lariat with the electric temp controls and tonight i was pulling about a 24 foot trailer with a 35 horse massy feruguson and a brushhog. I was doin about 40 goin up a small hill in 3rd gear with the overdrive turned off and it wasnt lugging or slowing down but the a/c just turned completly off. Im just wondering why it did this maybe because the computer thought the motor needed more power so it shut off the compresser?

Another thing, i have the 285/65 18 nitto terra grapplers that have the E-range load capacity. They are GREAT the rear end was sagging horribly with all the tounge weight and the side walls did not buldge one bit with 35psi i was very impressed.

As I understand it, when the engine is under heavy load the a/c will automatically disengage for a period of time till the computer determines that the engine can spare the extra power to run the compressor. I think its called a/c override switch.
