Red face No more FX4...

Well i'm sad to say that I traded the 04 fx4 off today. I didn't want to, but I bought a new skid steer loader and a 14ft dump trailer this week and knew the 1/2 ton couldn't handle the abuse. I bought an 06 Dodge Ram 2500 crew cab diesel 6spd. Fords were way high on their price and my neighbor works for chrysler so I got a great deal on it and couldn't pass it up. I love the new truck, but i'll always miss the f150 and all the abuse I put it through

A friend of mine who owns and runs a transmission shop here in town tells me every time he sees me, "Don't ever buy a Dodge, their transmissions are junk." Here's hoping you got a good one.

Enjoy your Dodge...I looked at the 2500 before I traded my F150 in for my F250. There was no comparison.

I know for sure the older gas dodges had junky tranny's personally so hopefully this one won't be bad. I originally wanted a powerstroke, but I heard horror stories about the 08 twin turbos bein kinda junky being first year and all and I know how it is getting something that just came out by my 04 f150. Diesels are hard as hell to find in my area right now, so i couldn't be too terribly picky. I'll be back in a 150 when the company pays this down and i can afford to have a daily for myself.

I have a friend who bought an 04 Ram 1500 the same time i bought my 04 F-150. He has had absolutly no issues. Something that I can not come close to saying.
Enjoy your Dodge, IMO it's all good.

That's odd. I have not heard anything about the '08 twin turbos being "junky" and can tell you first-hand that mine is awesome. If you read somewhere online where someone with an '08 has said that they are "junky", I would love to read that. Most of the negative comments I have read about the '08 F250 have been from the '99 to '07 Super Duty owners...a lot of sour grapes. One little problem with the DPF going into burn mode on some of the early trucks while in park and throwing flames, but that was resolved quickly with a PCM flash that disabled the burn while at idle.

I apologize, i didn't mean that they were all junky. The only experiece I have with them is my uncle just bought a new f450 4door powerstroke and had problems with one of the turbos not spooling up. Everyone in my area is buying up the pre 08's so they are treating them like gold around here. They are all awsome trucks, just not the chevy's IMO

While I don't necessarily like the Dodge's design, that Cummins is one heck of an engine. Amongst all of the diesels, I think the Cummins would be my choice.
