Successfully replaced my plugs!
Sorry guys, I know this has been beat to death. But I consider it a success so I have to share it.
I prepared by reading the multiple posts on this and other forums. Ordered the plugs (a couple of months ago), got the socket extension and ordered a couple of cans of Kroil. I've used it on several projects around the garage but I'm a new believer in this stuff.
Prepared by blowing out the area around the plugs with my compressor. There was really a lot of dirt and debris that blew out. Sprayed about a 3-4 second blast of Kroil around each plug. Backed each one out about 1/8 to 1/4 turn. Talk about moment of truth! My knuckles were white.
Each plug felt like a frozen bolt breaking off. I let that sit about an hour, turned each one back in and then back out about an additional 1/2 turn. Another hour and another 1/2 turn (between Indy 500 rain delays)! Started at 1pm, finished about 7:30pm.
The plugs came out surprisingly clean. The ones that did have carbon/crud were actually being further dissolved by the Kroil as it was still dissolving the junk on them.
BTW, I have 69,500 on the od. and do quite a bit of trailer towing so I was expecting some really bad plugs.

Sad how a simple plug change has turned into an all day afair. I got just over 36,000 on my truck, wander if i should replace my plugs now. Did you do anything to the plugs before reinstalling?

Cool. I replaced them in my mom's 5.4 3V Expedition yesterday with 33K on it. They all made a bunch of scary cracking and popping sounds, one I thought for sure was gonna break, but they all came out. I'm batting 1000 for these so far.

I really like this Aero Kroil stuff. What little carbon was left on the plug was literally melting off as it continued to be dissolved. I mentioned this stuff to my old father in law, he says he has been using it for years when working on his heavy equipment.
