Roof sound insulation

I purchased my 2004 SCAB last November, and today, I noticed for the first time that the roof of the truck is very loud during a rain storm. It sounded like I was inside a tin roof shed in the rain, and no, there wasn't hail, just plain rain. I was really surprised, considering the whole "quietsteel" marketing campaign Ford had when this style came out.

Never really noticed this with my 2004 SCAB.

Quietsteel is not used everywhere on the truck. I know it's used on the firewall, and maybe some areas of the floorpan. I believe the oilpan is quietsteel as well.

If you want to quiet your roof:
1) Remove your a-pillars trim.
2) Detach your rear seat belts from the c-pillars.
3) Remove your c-pillar trim.
4) Pull away the rubber door seals.
5) Drop the headliner.
6) Put some insulation up there.

Yeah the bigger the truck the more you have to drop pillars and what not, but its not to hard. definetly worth it. Makes your truck stay cooler once you have the ac running in the summer and what not. will actually will insulate the heat in or out depending on what season it is
