Friend's Brand New FX2 Broken Into

I think they busted his key cylinder.

Nice restaurant during it's lunch rush in a nice part of San Antonio.

Stole his stereo and left his Cordless Passport 8500(whatever) on th dash

Anyways, what can we possibly do to strengthen the handles and cylinders, and when will Ford admit to the lack of security that their handles present and provide us with a solution!

Jimmi Jammer reinforcement plate to block access to the door internals.

Not much can be done with the cylinder itself other than to remove it completely and rely on remote keyless entry.

Sorry but this isn't any different than a lot of vehicles on the road today. If a theif wants it, it's his with some effort regardless of what security measures you do have in place. .

Must be a thing with Texas restaurants. I remember hearing about this happening a couple times before.

X2!! Locks are to keep honest people honest. A thief can care less what security measures you install. For every new way of protecting your property that is created there are ten to get around it. These people spend more time figuring out how to steal you stuff than you will ever spend trying to protect it.

Sorry about your friend's rotten luck, but how is it Ford's fault or responsibility? He's lucky they didn't just smash the window, which is what most thieves do. The next complaint will be that Ford doesn't use glass that is thick enough to resist a rock or a hammer blow.

+1

Take the keyholes away, and they'll just start breaking windows next. If a crook wants in your ride, they'll get in at any and all costs regardless of what vehicle it is.

Regardless, thieves will try the method that creates the least amount of suspicion, hence breaking into the lock or prying the handle bucket, where lock or handle bucket protection would still be a good break-in deterrent.

The glass is always the weak point, make the handle stronger they break the window. Thieves are about quick and easy, there's no faster way to get into a vehicle then by smashing the glass.
