Just like my wife said...2 inches makes a big difference - Billstein 5100 Installed

LOL...finally got my Bilstein 5100's installed on the truck. Leveled the truck out nicely. Next I need tires badly. Rear measured 39" from the ground to the bottom of the wheelwell before and after the new shocks(didn't expect anything). The front measured 36 3/8 from the ground to the bottom of the wheelwell. After the lift it measures 38 5/8 which I'm assuming will settle some. Still a hair lower than the rear. To me if felt "tall". I was very happy. Most of all the ride is just worlds better. I wouldn't call it stiff. THe truck just rides great. No more crashing of the suspension over road imperfections. No more floatiness or bouncing. Best upgrade I've done so far.

Before and After (I need a better pick in the same lighting)

Thanks. I'd love to go with a 4" Rancho kit but I'll settle with my 2" leveling kit. I'm very pleased, I just really need to wash, wax and get a new set of tires under that thing.

Thumbs up Good to hear!

Mine are on the big brown truck as of yesterday - on their way from TopgunCustomz. I want to put a slightly bigger tire and improve the ride / handling characteristics of the truck and it sounds like the Bilstein 5100s are perfect for that.

Thanks for the pics - looks good!

So you got roughly 2 inches of lift just by slapping on new shocks? Are they just new shocks, or all new coil overs? How much?

They're Bilstein 5100 front coil over shocks and just plain rear shocks.

The new front shock/coilover allows the spring bucket to sit at stock 1" or 2" settings. I went right with the two inch settings. Reassemble the new coilover assembly slap them in and you have a level truck. I really can't describe how much better the truck handles the poor roads here in New England. I bought these off of ebay from topguncustomz for $379 shipped.

$379 for 4 shocks
$80 for the front install (1.5 hours labor)
$- for the rear install (I did those)
-------
$459

I need an alignment and tires but thats another story...haven't gotten and alighment as hoping to polish my tires off even quicker. That way the wife can't complain when I buy the new ones.

Mine just came in yesterday. Going to toss the rears on tonight, anyone know the torque specs for the rear bolts? I haven't checked to see if it's listed in the service manual yet. Hopefully I can get some time Saturday to tackle the fronts, shouldn't be too rough since I've already did the Autospring install up front a year or so ago.
