Possible To Mount A Front Reciever & Bull Bar?

Is it going to be possible to mount a front reciever hitch and a bull bar with lights on a truck at the same time? Would either the Bull Bar or the lights get in the way of the reciever hitch?

Yeah, I have the Warn semi-hidden mount, and it would be easy to have both. I don't know where 06fx4's receiver comes out, but mine is in that open space above the bumper & under the grill.

Are your guys front receivers home-made or did you buy them? Who makes them?

Mine is made by Warn. It's a breeze to install. It uses the tow hook bolts and some 6" bolts thru the side of the frame. And, as I said above, it allows you to retain your tow hooks or install a bull bar. The only thing I'd be wary of is if the bull bar would hide the hitch or not... hummm... That answer would most-likely depend on which manufactures you go with..

I don't have a bull bar but I do have the Draw-Tite front hitch. It slips between the frame rails and bolts on with 2 through bolts on each side. Tow hooks are unaffected, and the receiver itself is under the bumper. Pics in my gallery, including underneath views. Part number info, load ratings, etc is in this forum's various other front-hitch threads with my input - if you can't find it let me know and I'll dig it up again.

I'm not sure how bull bars mount so I don't know if the hitch would interfere or not.

See, that's why I asked. I was thinking that the hitch would come through the slot in the bumper and with a couple of lights on there I don't know if it would work. The problem would come in whether the portable mounting system for the winch would have a long enough tube(or whatever)to slide in there with the bull bar on the truck.

Lee,

See how in the top right of my post, next to my location (2004 F-150) there's a little black camera? Find out what your gallery # is, click on USER CP at the top of the screen, click on USER PROFILE, and enter your profile # at the bottom. That will make it easier for others to view your profile.

Here's some pictures of Lee's front Draw-Tite hitch.

Anyone have any pictures of the Warn?

I know what all that looks like. What it looks like isn't the issue. What is is whether the portable winch system will mount up with a bull bar and lights.

I think you'll find it will depend on the combination of a lot of things - the Draw-Tite hitch receiver is low, the Warn one apparently is higher. So one might work while the other doesn't, depending on how the winch plate and winch nestles up to the truck. And if either the front hitch or the bull bar use the tow hook mounts you'll have to decide if things will interfere there. Also, as an example, the Ramsey QM winch series say that the receiver can't be recessed more than 1" from the face of the bumper - so depending on what winch you go with there is obviously a possible interference there, too. Then you have to figure out if the winch is narrow enough to fit between the bull bar uprights - I can see where that could be a problem with some set-ups, although with a low reciever you might avoid that problem. Then the last consideration is your lights, and interference there will depend on your receiver, bull bar, and winch.

Unless someone else has exactly the set-up you want and has proven that it works (which is not likely), I think you just have to start doing research with manufacturer's info, or piecing together parts of the info, which is why I offered my Draw-Tite photos and info.

Good luck!

I'm assuming your considering the Warn Multi-Mount.

While I can't say for sure, if I had to guess I would say that the Multi-Mount will not clear a Bull Bar with either the Draw-Tite or Warn receiver.

If you're considering a winch in the first place I'm assuming that you do some off-roading. I'd get the Warn receiver that comes out of the bumper opening and the winch and forget the Bull Bar. They look decent, but I'm not a fan of their actual function and they lower your front ground clearance.
