Two Tone to Solid Conversion???

I am thinking about doing a conversion of my truck to all black. getting rid of the tan.

I found this on ebay... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BUMPE...QQcmdZViewItem

that takes care of the front bumper, and i can probably find the rear bumper also. But how much do you think it would cost to get the lower door areas painted???

Pat, Why buy new bumpers?? Just go get a quote from a paint shop I think your truck will look good painted all black. Ask Captain didnt he do this? I say paint black and keep the chrome bumpers.

but i dont have chrome bumpers so id have to buy them

i mean that one is 80 bucks for the bumper and already painted......i bet i cant get my current bumper painted for that much.

on top of that i could sell my current bumper and probably get 100 at the least for it and maybe make a little money off of it if i sell it for a little more.

the problem though is getting a rear bumper with parking assist holes in it.

maybe i can find a junk yard truck.....anyone help me with this??

i would love my whole outside of my truck black. then i could do black heads and tails.

i wanna black this truck out on the outside.

Pat, yes those bumpers are painted black, but they are only primered in semi-gloss or flat black. The finish is not durable and hardly waterproof. I promise that if you buy that bumper and do not paint it, it will be covered in surface rust beyond belief in about 4 months. You still have to apply a base coat and clear to the bumper, and if you are doing that, you'd be much better off painting your stockers. They are MUCH heavier and of higher quality than the taiwan junk. Those things are as thick as sheetmetal. I had one on my old toyota, and stones would actually leave little dents in it, not just chips.

But I love your idea of going all black. Although I am kinda partial to the look, since that's the way I ordered mine...

by the time you buy those cheap bumpers off ebay and pay shipping ($70) you looking at about the same price it would cost to have a loose bumper painted

it would be cheaper to sell mine and find some then to have mine primed for new paint and all.

and plus i am sure i can find a junkayrd or someone to trade with me.

I've had all 3 combos on separate trucks, IMO the two-tone or chrome bumpers break up the all black a bit and are the best choices IMO. I have to say though that I'm not a fan of the two-tone if you go with black wheels though, if you go that route I'd stick with Chrome Bumpers or go total stealth with EVERYTHING black
