HELP!!! trucks rearend is squeeking/slacking....

ok, so basically my truck has 16k on it and this is the second time i've went back to the dealer for leaf spring problems. I was wondering if anyone out there has a carfax left that they could see if this was a prob before i bought my truck with 8800 on it? when i took it to the dealer the first time, they replaced the leafsprings, and it stopped....it was great. now its back, though not AS bad, still bad. they checked a tsb and it said to change the pinion angle?? i sure hope this works...another question...would i be cleared for lemon law? i don't want to....i love my truck but...i can't let my warantee run out and this still happening. thanks guys
kaleb
ps....the first and second trip to the dealer was 2800 miles apart.

Lubricating the spring sliders and the bushings on the spring shackles with grease may help. Ford installs the bushings dry and this may lead to squeaking. Are you saying there is play in the springs?

Might not be the springs....Do you have a "drop-In" bedliner in the truck??

I had one of those in my old Dodge truck and it squeaked like crazy at times..it was completely random, sometimes it would not make a noise for months. It was probably temperature related......dealer actually replaced my leaf springs before we realized it was the plastic bedliner making the noise....

Check your tailgate. By that I mean with the tail gate shut grab each top corner and push/pull and I bet you will hear a high pitch like chirp. If you look at the latches where they would come in to contact with the latch pins on either side I bet you will see where the inside portion of the latch rubs against the inside of the latch pin, where it is flared, just before the plastic roller.

Hope this makes since, if not I will try to get some pics.

X2

It could be the tailgate... The way I found the source of my squeek was by pushing on the ends of the rear bumper (with tailgate closed). When I pushed on the bumper, it produce the squeek, which was coming from the tailgate. I took the TG off, lubed the bushings and latch catch real good, and the noise is now gone.

it's not just a squeeky noise, its actual slack on takeoff....like a shudder. kinda worrys me. I do have a drop in bed liner, but it's been put in with some sort of adhesive, can't get it up to clean. also my taneau cover clamps secure it to the bed. and the tailgate checked out ok...the guy at the ford dealer lubed my springs....i got a date friday morning for the fix...the guy said he'd never seen anything quite like it. i'll keep you posted....thanks for the sugs......

slack? like something is bouncing?

have you checked to see if your frame mounts are fine? some of the older Superduties would crack the weld in the rear for their leafs. It would look fine, but on acceleration or when loaded, the weld would seperate and cause the truck to sag strangely

well, the mechanic at the dealer said it was fine but, as for me looking not really, i've just kinda looked around and bounced it up and down and shook my truck. the dealer said there had been a couple trucks come in with the same noise, and last time i was there when they put new leafs on it, it stopped...man it was a new truck. then 3k later...it started surfacing again on take offs....so, who knows. i guess we'll find out. anyone else hearing a almost like a clunk noise on takeoff? let me know
