Personally, I think you're greatly exaggerating the negative feedback on your truck with the stock shocks.

I'm not saying the Bilsteins aren't better, but the stock shocks aren't bad either
Every truck is different. Some people on this site have the stock shocks for 100K+ miles and they still work fine....other have had to remove them at 20K miles cause they were shot.

I am not exaggerating at all....when I am driving around the DC beltway going 70-75 mph with traffic, and I go around a slight curve and hit a bump, my back end would kick out. The shocks weren't stiff enough to rebound quickly enough. For me it was somewhat of a safety concern.

I am just writing MY impression of the stock shocks, not yours. Everyone here is free to make their own decision.

I'm glad to hear they cure this. That is the exact symptom I have. Granted I know it's an empty truck bed, but it should stay somewhat planted.

I am still nervous because I drove for so long with the rear end "floating" at high speeds. Its taking me a while to get used to the fact that its not moving anymore.
I think you will like them.

Where any of the trucks you rode in Regular Cab trucks? Just curious. I just bought my '04 FX4 Regular Cab (completely stock) with 36K a few months ago. I thought the ride was really harsh. Way worse than my '98 STX 2WD regular cab. I put a new set of BFG All Terrains thinking it would help but it did not. I replaced the stock shocks with Bilstiens and the ride did improve somewhat. The ride seemed a little softer, and definitely took big bumps better. Actually I thought it had touch more body roll than before, but still handled great. I told the my mechanic why I was changing the shocks and he was surprised too, saying all the F150's he'd ridden in were really great riding. He thought that maybe it was because it's a regular cab, or has 18" wheels. I believe a lot of things people are saying on both sides. I think that somehow, someway, (exactly what way I'm not sure) these trucks are not all created equal. Note also, my truck is stock height, no lift.

It may be in how you drive the truck, and where you drive the truck. Here in Mass we have 2 seasons, Winter and Road Repair. If it wasn't for the fact I need a truck, I would have a mustang, and if I didn't need 4 wheel drive I'd have a lightning, and thats how I drive my f150. It takes a beating every time I turn the key. The bilsteins give me much better control on the highway and gives the truck the solid feel it either should have had, or once had.
