Howdy
Hi,
I've been lurking for a few weeks having just bought an 07 FX4 SCREW. I figured I should drop in and introduce myself.
My name is Michael, and I'm quite pleased to be the owner (or will be in 5 years) of a new truck. I've driven a V8 Explorer for 8 years and my WIFE (no doubt) suggested it was time for something new to safely pull the trailer. So, here I am.
I'm working on getting pictures into the gallery, but you've all seen silver SCREW's before, so no rush, right? My truck is pretty stock except for the 2" AS leveling kit and 16612 exhaust. But I'll load some pictures tonight.

There's no comparison. I did more mods to the Explorer - but after 8 years you tend to get bored. On that, I had a Borla cat-back, cut open air box with K&N filter, Monomax shocks, add-a leaf rear spring, Saleen sway bars, poly bushings, 8mm plug wires, and other odds and ends. It was a rock solid Explorer and I really do miss it.
But the 5.4 is just a monster. I barely press the gas pedal and away it goes. I can lay down a line of rubber - yeah!
The next mod will be either Proflaps or duraflaps - I'm undecided at this point. My WIFE (get this) says I need bigger tires now that I have a leveling kit. So cool.
I'm also working on a better ipod interface. I have a gooseneck mounted on the driver side which I used the seat bolt adapter and just slid it under the rail - it holds fine, no drilling required. I'm considering an Svideo plug mounted to the center console. That is a four-pin connector plus a ground shield. It will carry line out left/right, +12V, and pin 21 on the ipod connector to shut it down when 12V shuts down. Then all I need is to mount an Svideo connector to the end of the Ipod pigtail I have on my desk and done. Very slick.
BTW, Ford says NOT to plug line-out from our ipods into the top dash tray line-in. that is incorrect. I plugged line out from my ipod thru a pocketdock connector and it works MUCH better. this way, one only needs to use the volume control on the head unit instead of both the ipod and HU volume controls.
