Angry Windshield Chipped, Hood Dented

Driving to work on the highway @65 mph.
2 dumptrucks pass me and I saw it coming right at me.
It was a rock the size of a tennis ball.
BOOM, it hit my windshield and the hood.
Hood is dented, paint is scratched right down to bare steel.
Windshield has 3 small chips.

Body shop estimate is $912.00 with new windshield.

Has any one had chips fixed?

I dont want to change the windshield.

I would have sped up to see what company the trucks were from.....I would have been in their office, who knows, they might have worked with you instead of playing dumb....

That sucks I had that happen a couple times when I was driving a company truck a couple years ago. At least it wasn't my truck that got damaged when it happened to me. Its just part of the hazzards you face driving down the road.

I am not kidding you, I have about 18 fixed on my current windshield . The majority of those are because of oncoming trucks kicking up gravel/rocks etc. Some you can't see anymore, some are somewhat visible in the right light and others are completely visible. None have run and some are now over 2 years old.

If your insurance has windshield coverage, you can go to your local glass shop and they'll fix it free of charge...for you anyways. I did this in my last 3 cars. Once the chip was deep enough to not be considered cosmetic, they fixed it...took about 30 minutes per chip.

Even knowing where the chips were, I was unable to see them. The glass people have gotten really good at these repairs nowadays.

oh yeah, for the billing, most of the shops will just photocopy your insurance card, verify you have the coverage and then you're done. I've got Gieco, and the glass place says Geico would rather pay $50 to fix a chip, than hundreds to replace the windshield.

Sorry Al That sucks

I think it's a frigging rule that when you buy a brand new ride a truck hauling dirt and rock WILL crack your windshield, they got my SRT 8 with in the first couple of months too

As said you can try and have it repaired usually it comes out pretty good.
Cheapo me doesnt get glass, loan a car, and I go with a 1K deductable,
(to keep the policy cost down)

AL DO LIKE I SAID IN THE OTHER POST YOU'LL FEEL MUCH BETTER

Sorry Pal
