Tire Question for all you tire experts.

I am going to do some upgrades to my truck after a long wait. I am going to uprade shocks, rotors, pads, and of course some new rubber. I want to stick with the stock 17" fx4 wheels (not the 18"s). I want to go a little bigger in tire size, probably LT 275/70/17 or maybe the LT 285/70/17 Goodyear wrangler silent armor. I understand the 278/70/17 will have a D load rating and the the 275 will have a C rating. Will the D rated tire be that much more heavier than the C? Will it be harder to recalibrate the speedo with either size? What about gas mileage, will that take a dump? As far as all the other upgrade I will be putting on a set of Bilstein 5100 preload adjustable shocks, all four corners. Rotors will be upgraded with power slots and hawk or satisfied pro ceramic. What do you guys think? Any suggestions, should I go with the bigger tire? I would really appreciate any feedback from you guys. This is my first time doing any mods to my truck. I will be driving my truck a lot in the next fews months so I need it to be in top shape. Thanks

After Much Research

I have an 04 FX4 with 2" Autospring in front, Hawk brake pads, and Bilsteins all around, so we'll have similar set ups. I have the stock 18" rims so when looking to upgrade naturally I was stuck in the 18-20 mindset. Seems like all the wheels I liked had the wrong offset or bolt pattern and all the tires I wanted where either too big or not big enough and either a 4 ply or a 10 ply. Took a look at 17" options and found exactly the size tire 33x12 I wanted. Nitto Terra Grappler in 295-70-17. This is a great option for filling the fender well a little and not going crazy to kill your gas mileage. I have a Superchips tuner so I calibrate my speedo myself. Just some thoughts.
