Paint ?

Today one of my children ran into my truck with the handlebars of their bike. It left a shallow scratch in the door and the fender flair (Lariat plastic flair (Black)). Does Ford sell touch up paint? If so, is it possible to blend out a shallow scratch or will it make it look worse? The truck is 3 years old and it is black.

Thanks

try the touch up paint. You can get it at any parts store. If you don't like how it looks, have a shop look at it... you won't like the price.

Ford does sell the touch up paint. Just apply it and see how it comes out. You may have to wet sand it to blend it in depending on how deep it is. I have done this in the past, if it is deep just wet sand and apply another coat until it can be blended.

If you look at the DIY network website, they have some GREAT articles on DIY auto refinishing, and scratch repair.

I have some DEEP key scratches down the side of my Saturn (former owner's ex girlfriend, argument, damage, yelling, you get the picture...).

I figured I'd try it out on a $2,500.00 work beater before I try it out on my truck.

I wish the community college around here still offered auto body and welding classes. I'd sign up for them so I can know what I am doing to fill in the dents in the bed of the truck, and then take it in to get Line-X ed...

I am going to do the refinishing of the Saturn first, then once I know what I am doing, redo Debi's Focus, and then do the 2 tone on the truck...

Thanks for the reponses and the advice. Hopefully I can make it at least less obvious. Thanks again.
