Working the truck HARD!!!!
Okay stupid question here on if I might have hurt anything and what to check.
I was helping a friend with a home improvement project this weekend, (His Nissan just wouldn't cut the mustard). Anyway, so we loaded up my truck with the material and hauled it back to do the installation.
The material hauled was...
45 18x18 brick pavers. (Pavestone pavers). I didn't weight them, but seat of the pants feel is that they are around 20lbs each. Maybe 25. So I am going to rough guesstimate the total to be 1K lbs.
1 cu yd fill soil.
No big deal right?
WRONG!
That fill soil was south Texas clay / sand, and it was WET!
After loading the soil, the truck clicked on moving forward... And it was sitting on the bump stops.
We emptied enough soil out of the bed to get the truck about 1" off the bump stops, that stopped the clicking, and gave a REALLY squishy, but predictable ride back to the job site.
Is it possible I hurt something like U-joints?
I ran with the O/D off, and kept my speed under 40mph. The temp stayed pretty low...
Just wanting to know what, if anything I should look for....

i've been in the situation more times than i'm comfortable talking about where the axle was on the bumpstops. i had so much weight on the tongue of a trailer once, the truck never bounced off the bumpstops... interesting ride to say the least.
if you're truck is riding on the bumpstops, and the front tires are coming off the ground, then i think you might run into some issues...

The current Frontier with the 4.0L V6 has 261hp and 281tq (more than a 4.6L Ford V8). The older ones are anemic. Problem with the new ones is they get the same real world gas mileage as a V8 Titan.

I took 1 pallet of 60 pavers in my truck (about 2500lbs) and my dad put 2 pallets (about 5000lbs) in his truck (05 F350). I put 65 psi in my air bags and the truck rode like they were not even back there, you could tell that there was some weight in the bed when taking off from stop signs/lights but thats about it.
