Just got my xcal. for my 4.6...review inside

I have an 04 scab 4x4 4.6. I have been debating on getting a programmer for over a year now and I finally made the purchase about a month ago from Troyer Performance. I got 3 tunes, 87 tow, 92 performance, and 92 tow.

Well I had just filled the truck up yesterday with 87 oct. and I recieved the programmer late yesterday afternoon. So I have only been able to drive it with the 87 tow tune.

Results:
No more throttle lag. The throttle is a lot more reponsive now. As soon as I press the gas the truck actually starts moving! As far as power difference I can't really feel it but I know it did increase the power. THere are a few hills by my house and my truck always would downshift when I hit the hills. Now truck just stays in OD without downshifting. The feel of the truck is completely different now. It drives much better, shifts better. So far it is definitely worth the money. Can't wait to try the 92 octane tunes.

Thanks troyer performance.

a CAI will help on the throttle a little bit, and give some gains when you do get a programmer

I'm jealous...the wife won't let me spend the money on a programmer until after I move...lucky

When did you send Troyer your worksheets? Just trying to get a feel as to how far back I am in line for my tunes. And I'm glad to hear that the throttle lag is gone. I hate that too. Probably my least favorite thing about the truck

thanks.

I sent the worksheets a while ago. I think it took about 3-4 weeks after I sent the workseets. I am waiting for this tank of gas to run out so I can try out the 92 octane tune.

...not if the delays are programmatic, as is the case with ETC on these trucks. And really, since each strategy may have slightly different implementations, only a custom tune can truly eradicate it and ehance/improve upon the positive aspects that ETC brings to the 'torque pedal'.

Proof here is fantastic response using a stock intake.
