Remove Upgrades Before Trading Her In?
Well, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new F-250 Crewcab, and I was wondering if I should remove the Roush Off Road off my 2007 F-150 Supercrew exhaust before I trade her in. I have only put on about 10,000 miles on the exhaust and don't quite know if it is worth removing it and selling it. I will remove and sell the Xcallibrator and AF1 (3.5"), but with the exhaust, I'm not sure if it's worth the time. Thoughts anyone?
I'd take it off and post it up on the classifieds. You might be able to pick up a little cash from it. It could end up being a dust collector though, that's what happened with the exhaust from my last truck. I ended up chucking it after a few months.
You might want to ask the dealership when you are discussing the trade in value too.

Yeah, if you even mention that some people are selling something that you may or may not be interested in buying (in my case, not for sale), then it will be deleted (like my vague mention of demand/availability within the community once was).
you could probly pull the CAI, Catback and tuner and sell them as a combo package for $600 or so. Craigslist is a wonderful thing
I've paid $800 just for my CAI and Catback alone. If I were in the market, I'd jump on that price. Who knows, you might be able to put her up on eBay and get more.

Oh, and don't get me wrong, I loved the F-150, but it was a financial move... not a "gotta have" (contrary to popular belief
). Realistically, in the past seven years, I have had seven trucks (including this new one). The TOTAL of upgrade charges for the past seven years (trade differences) doesn't tally enough to buy ONE new truck at current prices. If I kept one and ran it seven years, it would have close to 400,000 miles on it - not to mention major maintenance costs (which I have avoided), and would be worth squat. With the miles I put on, dependability is essential, and running a vehicle with 2-300,000 miles isn't where it's at. I play a Ouija board (I call it) each year that watches the trade and resale values, rebates, maintenenace costs, and high mileage deducts. When the moon and starts are in alignment, I make the deal. The worst hit to date was the upgrade from one of the F-150's to a new diesel. But the down trade to the F-150 the year before cost nothing. In fact, we pocketed about $3000. Combining rebates and incentives with below invoice purchases, capped by outright sales of used vehicles and be suprising. And, I usually have people in like waiting to buy my used diesel each year. It's not hard to pull another $4,000 on an outright sale (over trade) on a smoker in my experiences. Just for the FYI column.
I'd say definately remove it. I was in the same position (trade in was going to be the same with it lifted or stock) so I went as far as taking the entire lift (Rize 8") off! I wasn't about to loose an additional few thousand...
