XTRA Large Tank

Does anyone know the part # for the 35.7 gallon gas tank for the F150? Also, do I need a new fuel pump or anything? I want to upgrade from the 27 gallon to the 35.7 gallon.

It should fit since you have the 8' bed but take a peak under your truck to make sure.

I am also interested in the part #, but i only have a 6.5' bed. Dont know if that makes a difference or not.

I remember another member looking into this a while ago and found the conversion to be very expensive. Maybe you'll find different.

Oh boo hoo. Try $107.23 to fill that tank at the cheapest station in town.

Our lowest gas price within 100 miles is $3.23. Be glad you're not in Commie-fornia

I wonder if there's an aftermarket tank that would be cheaper and better built?

The only real reason I want it is so I can fill it up, and it lasts... I hate going to gas stations once a week. I'd prefer like every 2 weeks if I can spare it.

But I did find that Ford calls it an Extended Range Fuel Tank and it's only for the 145" and 163" wheel bases at a cost of $598 along with a new fuel pump for $225... so for $823 I could get both. To have them installed, I'm looking at $1k possibly.

Is it worth it?! Maybe when it hits like 100k and I want a new tank because junk that got in the fuel tank.... but for now I think I can live without it.

But 3 things to keep in mind to do this mod:

1. You need to have a long wheel base 145" or 163".
2. You need to obviously get a 35.7 gallon tank.
3. You need to get a new fuel pump.

Is it worth $1k? Yes and no. Maybe 3 good reasons:

1. Added weight; great for traction during the winter.
2. More gas means longer trips without planning for gas stations.
3. Great if you can find those places that offer 10 cent discounts... load up on the gas and it will last... possibly saving you money. (Then again, it would take about 10,000 gallons of gas at 10 cents cheaper to make the $1k investment to just break even.) So at $3.23 a gallon that would be $32,300 in gas alone. You could buy a whole new F150 for that.

And trust me I am glad that I don't live in Cali!!! The scary thing is that is it cheaper to fuel up my 04 than my work truck, and when I have the fuel tank in the bed, WOW its really bad. Last year the most it cost me at any one time with my 04 was $106.XX, but my work truck with the in bed tank cost just under $400, around 40 gals in the truck tanks and transfer tank is 120 gals, so that add up fast.
