Ford Junk
Well I just got my truck back from the dealer after having the cam phaser replaced along with all of my lifters due to the knocking noise my engine was making. They also rebuilt my rearnd for the second time because one of the shims for my pinion gear broke loose for the second time. I got it back on a tuesday and had to bring back on a friday due to my rearend leaking. So far I've had a broken front coil spring, my trasnmission rebuilt, my rearend rebuilt twice, my rearend working on 6 times due to improper installation which caused it to leak and the work I spoke of earlier. I love my truck but I really am to my breaking point and the next problem has me trading it in. Does anyone have an explanation for the reason the cam phaser goes out or is it just deffective parts?

No, but my 06' makes the noise as well.. Everyone says it is normal and not to worry about it.. That doesn't mean that it is obviously.

I would advise getting the cam phaser problem fixed if you still have the warranty on your truck because there is a good chance that down the road it can get worse. As for the coil spring, I think it was just a deffective part that just gave out.

My understanding of the lemon law is that all of the work needs to happen during the first year. I've spoken to people that went through the process and it turned into a huge pain in the ***. They all told me that it took so much time that they wouldn't recommend doing it. As for changing dealers, I went to the one dealer four times to deal with my rearend issues and then took it to another dealer after that. My truck now has 59,000 miles on it so I'm dealing with my ford extended warranty which will cover me for 5 years or 100,000 miles. I've become friends with the service writer at the dealer because of all of my problems so at least he's been taking care of me. I just hope that my truck will run OK from now on because I'm about to give up on it.
the lemon law applies when your fixing the same thing >3 times on somehting you recently bought. did you buy the truck new? and when did the rear-end become an issue? it sounds almost like you had a stupid tech who worked your axle and had no clue.
I've had 1 problem with my truck. Paint. After I brought it up, the hardest part about getting the repair was waiting for the shop to get me in. It just depends on how your dealer is.

My truck has been to the shop 7 times in the last 4 months. 06 Lariat
evaporator coil leaking into cab (which I had diagnosed from reading here but they insisted on re-sealing the window, brake light, ect.first)- 3 trips
window weather stripping
each trip they broke a new peice of molding.(4 total)
replaced molding doesnt fit right...does it ever?, inside of my truck is scared up.
total of 2 weeks without my truck.
The closer I look at it the more factory flaws I find.
and the old favorite....brake dust
I love the body style, interior design and ride...but I doubt I will ever buy another Ford so as not to have to deal with their service departments (are there gorillas taking my truck apart?) and poor fit and finish from the factory.
But to be fair.....I have a great service rep and all this has been covered under waranty......just more problems than I would expect from a $35K truck.
Am I being to picky and OCD?.....probably.......my first new truck in 14 years(previous- Ranger...never a complaint..never a problem)
