As far as brand, no IMO it doesnt matter. Although, They do have some that are a tad bit pricey that are made out of solid aluminum that are suppose to be unbelievably strong. Here is an example of one.

As far as what size, you have an 8" lift on 38". I would get the biggest available which is the 10".

Brand?
I like Reese. But, you're right. It doesn't really matter. Check Walmart, Uhaul, or any auto parts store.

Drop?
With your jetski trailer level, measure the distance from the ground to the bottom of the ball coupling. With your truck level measure the distance from your receiver to the ground. Subtract the trailer's measurement and there's your drop.

Come on, pony up!!

PS: I got my hitch for free from the dealer since my rear bumper had a barely visible scratch in it.

If you have multiple trailers to tow the Rapid Hitch is great. I love being able to switch the height and ball size so easily (2" and 2-5/16"). It sounds like you only need to tow one trailer, so just get a cheap fixed one that is the height you need. Thumper, I see you have the 5- 3/4" drop. Does your hitch get down far enough or does your trailer have to be at an incline? I have the Rapid, but it is the 10 inch drop instead. What you towing around with it?

Yup, I've only got the 5-3/4" drop. It does work well, I'm sure the 10" drop would be better though. I'm not sure. I might be far off but it seems like the more drop, the more prone the hitch would be to break. . I'm towing quite a variety things; 21' Regal boat, open trailers with quads & bikes, closed trailers with quads & bikes, and jet skis. I really need to get gears!

Can you post a picture of your 10" drop?

Yep I'll snap one when I get this camera back into action. Guess I am not completely up to date on my gallery pictures! Gears are probably #1 on my list as of right now also. Although now a 350 has been added to the Ford family for the bigger toys. The origional owner actually had a 10 inch drop Rapid on it stock that he let go with the truck. I couldn't believe it cleared on a 2wd dually ! Anyways, I don't care what Ford claims, a 150 would have a really tough time pulling this big boy around!
