NEED HELP ASAP edge

Looking at purchasing a used edge that was previously installed on a 5.4 V8. Could I purchase this edge and use it on my 4.6?

-TIA

Yes, as long as it has been returned to stock. In other words the original owner will have to reload the stock tune in his truck before you can use it to tune your truck.

GREAT, thank you. Waiting to hear back from seller on payment instructions.

I am pretty excited although a bit nervous doing this to a truck with 4k miles though

I put my Edge on at 1,500 miles and it has been great ever since. You better call Edge to see if they support your PCM version, though since you have an 07.

Edge might not have the pcm code for your 07 truck yet. If you install the Edge without the right code you might get in trouble.

What changed between 06 and 07 that the edge would no operate effectively?

Ford produces dozens of PCM code revisions every model year - in fact it has the most variations of all/most vehicles.

Tuners need to recognize & support each different PCM code, and further, the " strategy code" to work correctly or even safely. [A Single PCM code can have several differen strategy updates].

This work load explains why there may be a gap in support - until they have a chance to re-write for it.

Edge has chronically been behind in this regard.

I've had my '07 for about 2 weeks now.. The hex code is "RXDG4B2.HEX".
I emailed Edge a few days ago and they said mine IS supported at this time. The reason I emailed them is that I was worried about the "2007 check engine light" problem that many members have had. Here's the response:

"I am showing that we do support that calibration... As for the check
engine light, we just finished our latest update to support those trucks
without throwing the light.... As for the unstable versions....those
are calibrations that may not be suported.... They are more a beta test
then anything....I hope this helps.
Thanks,

Aaron Chapman

Ugh, this is becoming a headache.

Well since the edge can be updated via USB, there is probably an 07 PCM update right?

Again - depends upon YOUR specific strategy - don't assume it's the same as for hmfic!!! Read what I posted before.

Do what he did; when you get your Edge - hook it up just to read your HEX code. Contact Edge & follow their lead. Ok?

Excellent advice, hmfic

Safer this way - don't play roulette.

Cheers

If they don't support it now they will soon enough, buy it, email Edge, use it when you can. Once you get used to it you won't want to be without it.

Just make sure it's the eef2400 and not the eef2100.
