Time for a truck to be built?

I am looking to buy a truck probably in the next 2 months... but I need to have it within about two months... can I order one and have it by then?

I keep looking at dealer inventory online but can't find quite one put together the way I want.

Another question- if I tell the dealer exactly what I want, they can go find it nationwide (assuming one exists at another dealer), right?

I ordered mine on Jan. 22st and picked it up on Mar. 4th, but it was at the dealer on Mar. 1st. When I ordered it they told me it would be 6 to 8 weeks, so I think you should have it within two months, but there is no guarantee...

When I was getting ready to buy my truck the dealer found me the truck that I was looking for at another dealership that was in Florida, I am in Kentucky, and I think that they had to give the other dealership something that they needed in order to get mine.

This is how they handled mine, your stealership could handle it differently though.!.!

I think i had the longest wait... 8/22/06-11/29/06 They blamed it on the new seats... I guess they never had black sport cloth availble in a silver truck before the 07's... hmmm..... my wait was wayyyyy to long... but well worth it

Looks like the trucks go through a lot faster than some of their other vehicles.

Last year I ordered my mother an Escape Limited with the promise of 6-8 week delivery and 8 weeks later the build order had still never hit the floor at the assembly plant.

The dealer wound up doing a locate/swap for one that had a towing package that I didn't order for the same price because of the mess.

I buy a new Ford every year, and I just have my dealer look through the nationwide database for the one I want. It's a lot faster and often cheaper than having one built.

If the new truck is within 500 miles, you typically get it the next day. My '07 FX4 was shipped in from across the country, so it took almost a week. If the dealers are within driving distance, they will typically just swap vehicles. On the long distance trades, they work something else out (like diverting delivery of a vehicle from the factory).
