It sounds like it can't make up it's mind whether it is supposed to be in high idle immediately after startup or not. Are you giving it the suggested amount of time to kick out of high idle before you put it in gear or do you just go as soon as it is cranked?

I actually had the exact scenario you have requested myself last night but no bucking occurred for me.

Mine does the exact same thing. I just brought it to Ford and they reflashed it but it hasnt changed anything. Gonna bring it back

Might have to start looking at the Tundra

I have an 04 Scab Lariat 5.4.
Mine did it again last weekend on my shopping trip. It only does it when
it's partially warm, and has been restarted. It will not hold a steady speed
at a very light throttle (5-10 mph) after restarting. It usually goes away
within a minute but I think I'm stuck with this problem. I have a 2004
with 25000 miles. It even surged when I was driving 20 mph on the
way home. It went away and drove normally after about a minute that time.
There's a large parking lot at the base I shop at so when I get groceries, I
have to go across a large lot to get the the exchange and it does it every
time. I live a half a mile from the base so the truck doesn't get fully warmed
up before I shut it off the first time.

It only does it when it’s hot; the temp gauge is at the half way mark, so the idle is around 600rpm.

I took it in again this Wednesday. They called last night to tell me they were unable to duplicate the condition, again! I authorized the tech to take it home, which he did. Said they tried 5 or 6 times. That's why I wanted others to try this to see if they could get the condition. I am picking it up this morning.

It is really no big deal, except my warranty expires July 13, and I'm worried this might be a precursor to a more serious problem. I will continue trying to get to the bottom of this, so stay tuned.

Get this: They gave me a loaner --- a 2007 Crew Cab Silverado, with 456 miles on it!! Were they trying to tell me something?? It was nice. Actually it was an Enterprise Rental, I don’t think the dealer even knows. Help!

When I took my 04 in for this problem, it took 2 visits and the service manager had to call the Ford tech line. Ford told them to reflash the PCM with a later calibration and it cured my low speed surge.

When I initially had this problem, reflashing fixed it. Then it returned so I
took it to the dealers again. They had it two days and were unable to
duplicate, and said it already had the latest calibration so they wouldn't
reflash it again. I have one more month on my warranty and it looks like
I'm stuck with this problem for eternity.

I may try one more time at the dealer. I have 25000 miles now and other
than this little quirk it runs great and consistently gets 17 mpg. Everything
else is so perfect with this truck that it makes this kind of stand out.
Heck, it still smells new inside and I plan on keeping it for a long while.
I've been debating extending the warranty, but I've already had the
spark plugs changed and see no other issues with this truck. Thanks
for the response.

Get to the bottom of this

Why don't you guys post your PCM strategy codes to see if its ONE code ,
Its under the hood on your PCM ,or if you have a tuner you can read it from the computer "the best way as ford may have re-flashed it at some point with or with out you knowing"

Where is this at, and where is the strategy code?
