Question on RCD lifts...

I'm in the process of refinancing my home, and I'll have a boatload of cash after everythings said, done & paid off... now I just have to be careful not to go nuts with the cards again!

My truck isn't happy... it wants to go a little higher. I'm looking into the various lift kits (again) and have a question about the RCD kit. I hear you buy one kit, and it's good for 4 or 6" based on how you install it. What makes it adjustable? Is it an extra part you don't use, is it a matter of using a different set of bolt holes or what??

I've read the RCD kit is a very well put together kit, and maintains stock or near-stock drivability. As much as I hate to say it, my truck is 75% mall-crawler, 25% play toy. With my girlfriend & daughter onboard I need to stay with something safe (which I'm know most are) and won't ride harsh..

It's dependent on where you place your coil on the shocks. The RCD kits come with the Bilstein 5100's which are adjustable 6-8", which is where you get your variance in lift height.

After install, my drivability didn't change, the truck handles and steers just like it did bone stock. As for being a mall-cruiser most of the time, you should be fine, i guarantee you wont be near as rough with your truck as i am with mine, and I've had no issues with the lift and associated parts.

I too am intereested in this kit. How much work is involved in adjusting the height? The front is the only adjustable piece so is it level at 4.5" or at 6"? As far as price, I am seeing it is a little more expensive than say the fabtech basic kit (~$2500)

Although this kit is more expensive than most 6" lifts, the adjustability makes it worth it... for me at least. Two months ago I bought a new set of 305/65 BFG TA KO's, and I REALLY don't want to buy new ones already. I don't like the look of 33's on a 6" lift, so the 4.5" would be perfect for me right now.

I'd consider leaving my AAL in the rear and keep the rake look. At least then when I'm ready to step up to 35" x 12.5's & the 6" conversion the truck wouldn't sit bulldog!

I'll know more this coming week when the adjuster does his thing. My hopes are based on my house apprasing for a certain value! If I hit it I get play money. If I come in low then it'll all be used for bills / etc.
