Broke her at the strip.........
Matt let's say the stock driveshaft itself was good for high HP.
What parts exactly would need be replaced ?
So far, i've heard about upgrading the U-Joints and Yokes, what else would be upgraded ?
Thanks a lot.

I would say replace all the stuff that touches the driveshaft or the U-joints.
if the driveshaft itself is ok ???
Thanks.
Check out rms8's driveshaft photo on page 2 of this thread.
Rafa, with all the work you've put into your truck, as well as $$$, it would be a shame to have something terrible happen when you put all that torque/hp into a stock driveshaft and break something. It can damage YOU, your exhaust, tranny, and other things beside just self-destructing.
The stock driveshaft sounds like an empty Coke can when you flick it with your fingernail. The sticker on it states to scrap it if dropped, and it is non-rebuildable. The stock shaft is also not speed-balanced for over 100 mph (one of the 2 reasons for the speed limiter on our trucks, the other is the stock tires).
Perhaps others who you trust more will come in and advise you about this.

thats what you get for messing with a nice stock truck should have left it alone... anyway going to go to the mountains this weekend see what else i can tear apart. at least it was a cheap fix tell the girls at work life is good with out them. laters
I'm pretty sure that you cannot upgrade the u-joints in the stock driveshaft. the end caps of beefier ones won't fit into the OEM saddle, and you would have to cut and weld new saddles to modify for strength, and then balance and...it gets painful and expensive.
maybe there is a cheap stronger driveshaft out there, but I'm guessing it's like the mythical good gas mileage.

That's another option besides the shaft Matt (and I) bought.

Glad to hear you got it fixed and returned so quick. I don't think I could of gotten an appointment to get my truck in that fast at our dealership, let alone the time it would take them to fix it.
Can't wait to see your numbers, hope it holds together this time.
