Recommendations for nerf bars

I have a 2004 F150, Supercrew, 4x4. Has the OEM black plastic running boards. Hit something in the road which threw it up into one of the boards, breaking a large piece out of it. I am now in the market for a good aftermarket set of nerf bars.

I've seen this discussed before but couldn't seem to locate anything by searching. I'm leaning toward something stainless or chrome. Looking for recommendations based on your experience.

Thanks for your input.

Do they have to be Westin? I did not want a brand name on mine, so I ordered from www.truckparts411.com. They are stainless steel and I got great service. I am very pleased with them and they were $179.95 delivered to the door in 3 days.
this is a copy and paste from an old post of mine. Still like my bars, pics are in the gallery.

Bars

Jim,

The link didn't work but I think I found that same company and brand on Ebay.

I saw your gallery, they look good on your truck. These are apparently Raptor brand. You haven't had any problems with pitting, etc.? I assume they are sturdy by their looks.

(BTW, awesome signature. I've got to have someone show me how to make one)

yep, those look the same. I googled truck parts 411, and they have another site and are selling on ebay. Yes, they have held up just fine, still happy with them.

Thanks for the sig compliment, Jamzwayne created that for me.

x2 Just got my Westin bullbar and I will be putting the KC's on this weekend. I think Westin has some of the better quality and appearance goods out there IMO

Exclamation Don't Do DeeZee

I ordered a set of bars from AutoAnything, they came straight from DeeZee. When they arrived they had no mounting hardware.I called both place Auto. and DZ. told me 2-3 weeks delivery. After 2-wks. no delivery. I sent them back. I have since ordered from Truckzoneusa. Should be here any day.AA tried their best but DZ wouldn't co-op. No more DZ products for this 97 F-150

I had the black plastic boards on my '04 scab and replaced them with the 5" OEM chrome ones. They are the best looking in my opinion. Bought them used on Ebay for $200 + shippping off of a low mileage truck. Be sure you get the right ones for your truck. Yours should have 2 black rubber pads on top (crew) instead of 1 (scab).

Also they screw right into the existing holes using the same bolts that came out of your black plastic running boards. Easy peasy. They cost $400+ if you try and buy them new at the dealership.
