well i noticed yesterday that on the drivers side rear door, the paint is starting to crack. it is located along the front edge where the front and rear door meet. upon further inspection i notices it is going all the way up the door. almost looks like a spiderweb. well the truck is less than a year old and had 12000 miles. i am heading to the dealer tomorrow am and my biggest concern is when they repaint it, will it blend in so i wont be able to see it? just about every car that has been repainted, you, well i, can tell where it was. just wondering if they have gotten better about this. i bet they will try to just sand and paint the spot. if i can tell, i will want the whole door done next. and if that doesnt work, should they paint the entire truck? after paying $36000 and 12k miles later, i dont want, or shouldnt have to be able to tell my truck has been repainted when it was a defect from Ford. what do yall think?....

 

Try it and find out. Nobody here can tell you how it will look.

 

Silver is a fairly easy color to blend, there should not be any problem with them repairing it. I had some drips in the clearcoat on my Drivers door that I discovered a week after buying it. They fixed it for me and it came out fine. If it was me I would prefer they repair just that one area and keep as much orignal paint as possible. The factory paint will almost always be better than a repaint.

 

i think it was last year my passenger (i think) side door , either that or drivers side idk where i put the pics on some disk but a chip of paint came off about an inch in diameter. dealer repainted the whole door no questions asked. you could tell it peeled off and wasnt chipped from a rock.
