Mine runs 150-160 degrees F during normal driving, not towing.

When I am towing mine usually get around 190-200...normal driving hovers around 150-160.

If your trans is really that hot it will not be around long. :fyi:

Normally mine sits about 180 degrees in Florida heat, stop & go traffic. I have had it up to 205 degrees coming back from Miami on I95 but it was hot and I wasn't doing the speed limit. ;)

Bad things happen to automatics when they're run above 260 degrees or so for an extended time.

At 300+, the friction linings will turn into kitty hair in short order.

My transmission runs between 144 - 155 during normal driving and has been as high as 195 while towing. I think your 146 is about right. Do you have the factory tow option with the transmission cooler?

Mine is a steady 142, stop and go traffic is drops off a bit, but if i got my foot in it driving like an idiot it might pop up closer to 150-160. At 220-230 (i think it might be even higher, dont remember exact number) or so you should get your high trans temp warning that will put the engine in "limp mode". When i desroyed my valve body i pegged out to 250 trying to get the truck home, which gave the truck a nice burnt smell for a couple days.

My trans temp reading is coming from the "test port" and when its cold up here in Illinois its halfway between 100 and 150 normal driving 150 hauling ass 180 and yes it does have a cooler. But doesn't it also affect where the temp reading is beign acquired from? At 300 degrees I would say that tranny is cooked.

. . by the way, I don't even think the transmission cooler kicks on until it reaches around 210-230 degrees.

:beers:
