Exclamation AC: Alternating degrees of coldness

The past couple of weeks I've been running my AC and have noticed that it took forever to cool the truck down. I just thought it was because I was in an extended cab truck and not a regular cab (like my previous trucks). This afternoon on my way home I had my hand in front of the air vents. I noticed that it would alternate between super cold and just cool. Is that a sign of low freon or a compressor or what?

10-4 but if you are low on freon...you are low on freon for a reason. Might as well get it taken care of properly before the heat hits...it's not far off!

It could be just enough refrigerant in the system to allow the compressor to cycle but if your low then it means you have a leak. Take it back to the dealer to have them recharge it and add dye to check for leaks.

My truck had the same problem, so I took the truck to my dealer in september of 06, and they hooked It up to the computer and they did the dye thing and all, and they could not find a leak or a problem with my AC. But when I got the truck back, the AC worked better for some odd reason, and works great till this day.

Where'd you have the A/C set? Where was the temp **** at, what fan speed was it on, and what setting (max A/C or outside air)?

And how hot was it outside?

Had the temp **** all the way cool
had it on max AC
and had the fan speed at wide open although i did alternate a little between fan speeds. But it alternated at all speeds as well

It was in the mid 80's i would say

My Supercab's AC works alittle better than my reg cab did...both 2005's. I was convinced that I was low on refrigerant...took it to the dealer, and they said it was fine. After awhile, I still wasn't satisfied so I went out and bought one of those canisters of R-12 with the guage on it. According to the guage my AC was fully charged and didn't need any added to it. Now the Supercab I drive seems to cool slightly better, but it still feels pretty inadequate.:o The only good thing is that here in Michigan, I only need to use the AC for about 3 or 4 months out of the year.
