Question Diagnostic Mode in Dash - 93 Octane?

I was testing out the digital tach and speedo last night in the diagnostic mode (for those of you who don't know what that is - click here). In switching through all the options, I came across one that said something along the lines of "Premium Fuel - 93 Oct".

I've been running 87 in my truck since I've owned it, and that is what the factory calls for. Why would the dash be saying 93?

Any input is appreciated!

I dont know but they dont even offer 93 oct. in some states. I wonder if these trucks have another tune in the computer that will let you run a 93 tune. I doubt it.

I know it - luckily we can get 93 here, but I don't want to run it. I'm hoping this message in the dash isn't an indicator that the truck needs to run on the premium stuff.

I've gone into the same thing you're referencing and never seen anything about 93 Octane.

I know it doesn't help you, but I just wanted to be a point of reference. I have an 05.

You sure that isn't the 93 code meaning you have a 1/4 tank of gas?

No '93 Octane' on the display... '06 model.

A pic would be interesting to see ...

Thank you for the replies folks! I went back out and checked it just now with 3/4 of a tank of fuel, and it says "FUEL P 168" so I guess the 93 was just a coincidence. Phew!!

That is probably fuel pressure.

Fuel pressure at 168? I certainly don't think so...

It depends on what units of measure you are talking about. Could be metric-kiloPascals. 168 kPa = 24.38 psi which is well within the range of fuel pressure you would expect to see.
