2004 Fuel Filter ??

Hi All
Need some help in the removal of the fuel filter on my 5.4 F150. Of coarse the plastic clip on the tank side of my filter broke off ,and I am not haveing very much luck at the Ford dealerships( 3 of them ) replaceing it. They keep showing me a white elongated horseshoe shape clip. What I removed looks like a 3 piece unit, blue in color 2 pieces are circular and the 3rd piece looks like a retaining clip that keeps it altogether.
As for the front (engine side) there is a metal clip which I removed but was unable to pull the hose off the filter. I am thinking that it needs a special fuel line uncoupling tool

Anybody change one of these out yet ? I need help.

The Chilton manual I just bought says remove retaining clips

You'll need to do the search. The fuel filter has been covered over and over. BTW - you'll also need the tool. I paid something like $7 at Kragen.

Search by 'fuel filter replacement'. Plenty of threads. You could also check the 'technical articles' at the top of the page. Whole procedure there.....

im guessing you got your truck back on the road by now, but i broke my blue clip also and after talking with several ford dealers who said the only way to get the clip was to order the fuel line (which is absolute bullsh*t n fords part)... we came up with this and it works great!

I did file the areas in red down a little so it could sit father in.
