PIE AUX issue, need some help.

I posted this in another area but did not get much help. So I figured I would try here since there is more traffic. Here is the situation, I installed the PIE adapter in my truck and I followed some steps I had found in the forum. I hooked up the power cables to the 12V plug that is to the right of the radio. Anyhow, when I don't drive my truck for extended periods of time (Like a week), I think the PIE is draining my battery. I am assuming that is what's going on. That is the only thing I have installed to a power source on my truck. Since that 12V plug is always live, I figured it has to be the PIE adapter draining my battery. It does not do anything when I drive it on a daily basis, only when I leave it sitting for a couple of days. So do you guys have an idea of a better way to hook up the PIE? Maybe a 12V source that is not always live, only live when the truck is on? Thanks

I dont have that problem with my PIE and I also have other items hardwired to the 12v. You can splice into the radio harness, and use the test light to look for the wire that lights up only when the ignition opens, pretty much the same wire you would use for the amp turn on or amp remote. Hope this helps.

Yeah I figured that much, but I was hoping someone already knew which wires to use. Thanks for the info.

You needed to tap in to the "switched power" wire that is in the radio wiring harness. That's the wire that automatically cuts the power to your radio when you open the door. This way it goes on and off with your radio and you don't have to worry about draining the power. Search the forum and you shall find. There was a posting I utilized that has got to be about 18 months old by now.
