Tailgate bushing...anyone have to replace this?
So I've noticed that my truck has a rattle from the bed over unsettled roads or rather large potholes and since I live in Massachusetts you can't go 100ft without finding either. Today I was driving with my slider open and over the condition above I heard a nasty rattle from the back. My wife looked at me like my bumper fell off. Needless to say when I got home, I was poking around and noticed I could lift my tailgate up some while it was closed and was able to vilotenly shake and recreate the noise. I opened the tailgate and compared both sides. I found a bushing on the drivers side hinge and but none on the passengers. Is this common? I can't imagine it's an expensive part.
I had the same problem. I took my truck back to the dealer and they replaced the bushings. I don't hear it in winter since the windows are closed, but come spring and summer with the rear slider on, it was very noisy. Since the bushings have been replaced, I've heard no more noise. Good luck!
