I've never heard of doing that before, it may work. Why not just remove the panel from the back of the tailgate, reach in and work the dent out? Save yourself the cost of the dry ice.

Will this work with a sharp dent, I dropped a pile of pallets off of the forklift, and edge of one hit the gate.

My buddy does dent-repair for a living. He'd remove the panel and use a little metal pole from the back and slowly press it to work it out. If the metal is kinked, you're screwed, but as long as there's a nice, even flow to the dent, you're golden.

Very true.

That Dry Ice trick is interesting. Hope I never have to try it...

I heard it works. Do it on a sunny day when the gate is really hot. The dry ice should make the metal cold enough to shrink a little and poof no more dent

The ice DOES work for round dents, such as from hail damage. You'd need to do it on a very hot day, like 95+ and out in the sun, or even better use a heat gun, not a hair dryer, then lay the ice.

Won't work on creases, just shallow dents. It's pretty cool to see those things rise up and take the original contour.

But you don't want to burn your finish either.
