Edge Evolution, Dash Hawk

What is the difference between these two besides price and programming capability? Also does either have real time gas mileage? Recommendations for other brands and types if you would. Thanks in advance.

Hi.

At first glance, the DashHawk appears to be a 'capon' version of the Edge.

However, digging deeper, it appears it has access to many more display pids, and can also display A/F's (using an external wideband as the signal source).

Only you can decide wether those features minus the tuning, are worth approx the same cost....

Cheers

The Edge Evo is an engine programmer that is also an engine monitor. It will also allow you to read DTC's and clear them. The Dash Hawk is strictly a engine monitor. It does appear to read a few more parameters than that of the Edge Evo. Not sure how useful some of those parameters are tho.

I am running the Edge Evo and it does allow you to monitor fuel mileage in real-time and averages fuel usage.

Check out http://www.scangauge.com/ for the ScanGauge II. It'll display real time gas milage, daily average and tank average. I've got one and I love it! I think it runs about $160 on eBay.

Yes it does and it's accurate. Each time you fill up, you go to "Fillup" and it will display the amount of fuel you should have put in at the time of fillup based on the amount of fuel used and the size of tank. Because of the varibles during refueling, you may be off a couple of tenths of a gal. so you adjust it accordingly so the computer knows how much fuel you put in and it will then give you an accurate reading of how much fuel is remaining, and how many miles till empy. The last time I filled up my ranger it took 13.7 gals. When I checked the Scanguage it showed 13.6. Pretty accurate.

And the Scanguage plugs into your OBD II port.

Grow up - you know what I mean - answer your own question - in this case it could not possibly have been easier, and would have saved a useless hijack, and an apology. Good grief... kids .. no wonder some Edge guys have problems ...

Been handin' out so many spoons lately, I plum ran out ! LOL! Guess I gotta stock up ...

Cheers!

MGD,

What sort of problems are you speaking of with the edge and button pushers?

Go look in the Chips and Tuners sections... or search for "Edge problem"

Hi miwico... it's the much-publicized 'user error' that represents 95% of the reported Edge problems.

Just my way of referring to same - "button happy" - don't read, don't research.

Let's just let this one die okay? RP will be very happy. I've made my point & others have made theirs.

Good luck, bud, with whatever you decide to buy...

Cheers
Bubba
