Bilsteins, Wheels installed this weekend

After bugging the crap out of you guys with every possible question about the Bilstein lift shocks, I finally got them on this weekend. I had originally removed my 4x4 blocks in the rear, so this weekend I put those back. And I installed the rear shocks - pretty simple and straightforward. And then I had a shop install the front struts. Here are some quick pics that I snapped.

My wheels are Black Rhino Keros wrapped in Falken Ziex 305/50/20

Painted interior trim and leather shifter handle (you can also see the switches for my heated seats about 6" below the vents):

And here is how far my tires stick out. Wheel is 20x9 with 35mm offset and a 305/50/20

My impressions - the Bilsteins are amazing. I was a bit nervous that they might be too stiff from different impressions I have read on here and other sites. Not at all!! I do feel smaller bumps a bit more, but the truck feels so much more controlled - bigger bumps are less noticeable. It takes the truck less time to recover from potholes, etc. And I dont feel like big bumps are going to shake the truck loose anymore.

Also, for anyone considering either the Bilstein lift shocks or the leveling kit - DO IT!! I used to have my 4x4 leveled by removing the rear blocks. And now its leveled by putting the blocks back and the leveling shocks - the truck feels like a monster now. It feels so much bigger. Looking at all the pics of leveling kits I was always like, "Oh, I guess I can see a bit of difference." Pictures dont do it justice!!

Get these shocks!!! You won't be disappointed.

This is one of my concerns too.

I got the floormats from www.mats4less.com. I have ordered from them before - very fast shipping. These mats are great....the passenger side doesnt have any annoying clips. They are laser cut so they fit every contour perfectly. They couldnt slide if they wanted to. And the driver side is the same, but it does have a cutout for the clip that is already in the carpet. And the hole in the mats for this clip is tight so it "clicks" in to really hold it. Highly recommend these!!

Deerfeedrb - one of the things I love about my truck is the comfortable ride. I was very nervous I would sacrifice this. But after the feeling of my rear end kicking out at high speeds I knew I had to do something. These make your truck feel more stable - I dont lean as much in turns, the nose doesn't dive as much when breaking....the truck just feels solid without feeling harsh. For example, there is this set of railroad tracks I always go over, with the old shocks, I felt like the whole suspension was going to shake to death and fall off, but with the Bilsteins - it takes the bumps and goes. No slushy feel, it doesnt jar the truck at all. This is the way this truck should ride from the factory.

I would have to concur with Thais0n statement with regards to the 5100s. Im big time glad I got mine. Front lift and a better quality shock. Two birds with one stone really. Worth the $ IMO

My radio is a Kenwood DDX-7015. It does sit very flush. I dont have any more pics as of right now. I can see if I have any more on my computer for you.

Here is a link to "Matt 05'FX4s" gallery (Hope you dont mind Matt) - showing some various pics. He upgraded his headunit to the 6019 so the graphics are different, but the fitment should be the same.

That sounds exactly like what I want. I had my credit card itchin to grab a set of these, but took the dive on the G100 and a bunch of detailing stuff instead. The one thing that kept me from pulling the trigger were the harsh ride comments that some have about the Bilsteins. When someone says harsh, my interpretation is that it's a knock your fillings out or kill your kidneys kind of ride. Maybe in another month or so, I'll have to detail the hell out of the gf's truck to get some points first.
