Fornt Bumper Swap

I havent posted a lot on here but readin through some of the articles, it sounds like some of you guys have stripped your trucks douwn to the bare nuts and bolts. Heres my question. I have an 06 XLT Supercab and I dont like the plain front bumper. I want to swap for one with foglights. Are the trucks prewired for this already. Having driven older Fords for the last 10 years or so, I know that if you wanted to upgrade something, you just dug the wiring out of wherever Ford tucked it away and installed the controller and switch. Is it still like this? Thanks.

I know that you have to change out the light switch and the wiring is there but i dont know if it will work by just doing that. My buddy changed his 2004 F150 front bumper to a 2006 front bumper with fog lights (his 04 bumper had no fog lights)he tied the wiring into the wiring for the running lights and has had no problems.Hope that helps you.

That was what I was hoping I could do, change out the light switch and installl the bumpuer with the factory lights and with any luck the wiring would be there to plug and play.

If the wiring isn't there, its easy enough to do. I just did my wiring this morning as my rig had no fogs either, and I swapped from a 04 to a 06 front bumper too. I ran some power and ground wires and installed a lighted round toggle switch in the panel just beneath the dash where it meets the floor. It took about 2 hours in all with mounting the switch and running the wires and putting the cab all back together.

I've got an 06 s-crew. I am upgrading to the factory fogs and have done a lot of research on this and here's what I know. The wiring IS in place from the headlight switch connector to the central junction box (pass side kick panel). Even the fuse and relay are there. I have swapped the switch out, got a new bumper, and factory fogs from eBay. All I have to do is get a pin for the factory connector at the junction box and run a wire out to the fogs (ground too). According to the factory service manual, it is PIN#12 on connector C270A. Right now there is no pin/wire in this location. Hope this helps!

Right on, I will be havw a look for that today when i get around to cleaning the truck up. If its only a matter of hooking up from the junction forward, thats too easy.

I'm new here and I was just wondering what switch you guys were talking about. Are you talking about the switch to turn on your headlights? If so, what is the difference in the switches from '05 to '06? I was hoping I could just swap out the bumpers and wire in the lights.

Talking about the headlight switch. On models with fog lights, you pull the switch out to turn on the fog lights and rotate is normally for the headlights, models without foglights dont have the pull feature.

So in theory since I have the switch with the automatic headlights and pullout for the fogs, I should be able to swap out my bumper for an '06 bumper by just wiring in the fog lights correct?
