I change the oil on my F-150 at 12 months -- whether it needs it or not. This last change the oil only had 450 miles on it, put on in about 50-mile incremements......:o

Has anyone sent their Motocraft syn blend in for testing? If not I might send mine in at the next oil change and go from there on how long to go between changes. I'm currently changing at 3000 miles on my 05-5.4 3V.

Most filters are only guaranteed for 3 months so I think this new interval will only help those of us who drive 2000 miles a month or more.
I changed the oil in my wife's car today. It has been just over a year and 3,500 miles. The filter looked exactly like the new oil filter other than it was oily. Never heard of any kind of guarantee on an oil filter.

Jiffy Lube makes it's recommendations based on the vehicle manufacturers recommendations for "severe" use regardless of the oil used.

They sell oil changes. They can almost double sales if they convince their customers to go by their "suggestions". It's not hard figuring out whose interests they are looking out for.

Again, Jiffy Lube bases it's recommendations for service on the vehicles manufacturers suggestions for severe duty, there's absolutely nothing dishonest or misleading about that, it's simply the easiest way to make sure you're covering all the bases when you deal with vehicles from grandmas driven once a week Olds to a contractors abused truck.

We've fired people for trying to pad their paychecks as you describe.
