Anyone else have bad Tranny???
I just had to have my tranny replaced in my 04 4x4 Scab w/38000 miles on it and I was wondering if any of you guys have had to have yours replaced. I am not hard on my truck and I havent done any wheelin with it b/c I have a lil ranger for that. The dealership hasnt given me any probs, but they did say that they havent had probs like this b/f. They said that the inside of my tranny looked like something had blown up in there.
There's been a couple of people that have posted about tranny failures on their trucks, so it's not unheard of. It's the exception rather then the rule, on a vehicle that is produced in the volume that the F150 is there's bound to be the odd one with this issue.
Had mine replaced at 40,000. Sounds similar to your problem. I think I lost my 4th gear when it happened, they dropped the pan and there was bits of gasket and metal shavings in there, so they replaced tranny.
They are covering mine. I bought mine used as a CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) and it came with a powertrain warranty until 75,000. Lucky me!!!! It only costed my 500.00 extra when I bought it to get it Certified. Its a good thing that I did. The warranty more than paid for itself this time.

I thought you could do this with no problem. I would go from OD to 2nd to 1st, and then upgear from 1st to 2nd, then to OD.
But I only did that on the first two transmissions. I then learned that you shouldn't do that on an automatic... but the service manager didn't tell me that on the other two.
He actually got mad at me, I think, and yelled at me not to touch the gear lever while driving, unless parking it, or putting it in reverse. Now I'm back to a true manual.
