Low Fuel Indicator
Low Fuel Indicator
Something weird happened today. I put $20 worth of 91 octane fuel in the tank today which took it to almost half a tank full. I drove to Napa and back and the low fuel indicator came on when the needle was just on 1 quarter tank full.
It usually comes on when it is barely touching "E". Anyone knows what the deal is? I hope my Edge isn't causing this problem. Thanks.

My sensor is messed up too, has been since I drove it off the lot. I have a 27 gallon tank, but my warning light goes on at 7 gallons left, and my gauge will read absolute empty with 3 gallons left. It's not a big deal, but it annoys the crud out of me. She's due for a 20k checkup in a few months, and I'm going to have them take a look at it then. I'm hoping it's just a calibration issue, and not a bad sensor, considering the sensor is mounted inside the tank.

OK, there is definately a problem with my electronic fuel guage. The needle seems to be working fine and the speedometer seems to be working fine. According to my speedometer, it is only 2 miles from my house to my gym. During that 2 mile trip, the "miles to E" guage went from 40 to 34! My concern is, once it gets to "0 miles to E", will it send a signal for my engine to shut off or will it go by the actual needle guage? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As far as your problem goes... it is probably normal. The fuel is used to cool the fuel pump and they might set low fuel sensor so that there is that much fuel in the tank to keep the fuel pump healthy.
