Just a quick question

There was another thread on here jsut recently posted about this guy getting his oiled changed and the mechanic tryed to cheat him out of money with some lame water leak in his exhaust But that brings up a question of mine, I went and got my oiled changed and the mechanic randomly said 'You have to get your fuel filter changed every 15,000 miles or it voids your warrenty, everything on your truck and warranty is gone if the dealership finds out' and the way he kept saying it was BS, he also said 'im gonna have to fax this to the dealership' and I was like "what ever". Is the thing about the 15K true? About you having to get ti changed every 15 thousand for like good maintience, or is he just pulling my chain. Everythign else he said I knew was a load a chit.

Also, the last time I got my oil changed, I had my fuel filter replaced just for fun, It couldnt have hurt. But the funny thing was, that this time around when i got my oil changed, he told me that I havent had my oil filter replaced......a bunch of bright guys eh?

I may be mistaken, but I believe the manual states every 30,000 although I do replace mine every 15,000. I can't believe he said he had to fax something to the dealer. That is amazing. I get my oil changed at my dealer and I now have 43,000, they have never mentioned fuel filter. They charge $69 to change one, so I do it myself. Most people are gullible or just not knowledgable enough and would have said, sure, if I need it, change it.

Change your oil yourself and you won't have to listen to that BS.
It's not that hard to do.

My grandpa once said "when it comes to auto mechanics, just stick with the same crook, eventually he will stop cheating you cause he knows your gonna come back anyway." My grandpa fixed everything that ever broke himself so I don't know how much weight that holds. Come to think of it, he was a mechanic for many years...maybe he is speaking from personal experience!

You dont need to listen to this f**king loser. This is total crap.

First off it is the responsibility of the dealership performing warranty work to prove that your negelect to conduct routine maintenance led to a mechanical failure. For instance, not changing a fuel filter has nothing to do with warranty work on a suspension component. Also whats to say that you didnt change your own fuel filter in your driveway. Are you required to fax the dealership proof that you did this on your own? Of course not. And what dealership would he fax it to? Here in Houston there are over 22 Ford dealers in a 50 mile radius

On Monday you should call him up and tell him that you reported his business practice to the town's Chamber of commerce and the Better Business Bureau cuz one line of BS deserves another.

This is exactly why I do pretty much all of my work on my vehicle, including rebuilding it. .
