fog lights

I replaced my fog light bulbs with PIAA plasma ion # H-131. 55w.
I love the light but after 1/2 hour it looks like they are going to melt my fog lights.(to hot)

It's not the first time I've heard of or seen it happen. Hmmm....maybe Ford knew what they were doing when they put the original bulbs in.

I keep hearing about this but, as I explained in another thread recently, I ran mine for a 12hour round trip recently and had no problem with my Silverstar 9005's in my fogs [which were actually designed for heads].

Dunno...

I've run the 9005 Cool Blues for over 2 years now, and no probs.

They don't burn out as fast either.

I just replaced all my bulbs out front with Silverstars yesterday. I thought really hard about doing the 9005's but decided to stick with what was reccomended. They definetly make a difference, but probaly not as bright as the 9005's. Oh well....on a differnt subject, the silverstar turn signals look a lot better then the original orange bulbs that are oem.

Might want to put your PIAA side by side to the 9145 or 9005, to see if the glass capsule is longer on the PIAA. There may be more heat due to the glass capsule being closer to the lamp housing lens.

Nah, the lamp assembly manufacturer knew what they were doing. Ford doesn't design or build their own lamps or lamp assemblies. I worked in lighting (Sylvania and Philips), automotive and commercial, for years.

Did you replace both front and rear turn signal bulbs?

What's the Silverstar model number?
