Changing gears???
so I just bought some 4.10 gears, but I was wondering if anybody has changed their gears themselves, and I would like to know what all is involved because I might want to do mine because i have lots of spare time, and I prob. could figure it out if I had some guidance
ummm I wouldn't do it if I were you. You have to get them set them PERFECTLY. The slightest offset and you will burn them up fast. Make sure that you break them in right too. I've heard anywhere from 500-1000 miles...
I would pay someone to install them. It's a very technical procedure for someone who doesn't know what they're doing. .
On a different note, I know a lot of guys are talking about breaking in their gears. . I've never replaced a set of gears so I'm just going out on a limb. But! What the hell difference is it compared to when you buy a brand new truck? I've never 'broke in' any of my vehicles other than driving them normal to hard and I've had nothing but excellent results from doing so. .

what ever happened to that one guy with the white lariat that installed a rize 8" and put replaced the back with the rcd leaf pack b/c he complained rize didnt lift the back end enough.... anyway i remember reading that he said he was going to do a detailed write-up on how to regear.
