Finally got some new wheels & tires...

So for the past year I've been riding on 18" FX4 wheels with 285/60 Terra Grapplers. I just got my tax check in, and since I've had to scrap almost every plan I've had for the F-150, I decided to put some new shoes on.

I went was looking around Discount Tire Companies website, and found a set of MB rims I haven't seen before -- the MB V-Drives. They look like a cross between the Bruzer (which I think only comes in 20's) & the Gunner-8's. They have the spokes that look like the Gunner series, and partially painted surface like the Bruzers.

On top of all of that, I've been looking for the BFG's in 305/65/18... so far it's proven to be hard to find. While at the checkout counter I decided to ask if they had them in stock.... which they did! So, a ton of money later, my truck got a new pair of shoes. The truck looks 100% different, it rides great and the BFG's are quite a bit more quiet than the Terra Grapplers.

Hopefully this is enough to keep it in here -vs- the Wheels & Tires section: gears & the Edge:

1) I had my stock 3.55's swapped out for 4.10's shortly after buying the truck. With the 31.5" tire the truck was snappy, but RPM's were always high & fuel economy suffered on the highway. (Although great around town.) On the almost 34" tire the truck feels just right....

2) If anyone is wondering about Edge settings I used 2330 for the 285/60's and an even 2500 for the 305/65's.

There is absolutely NO RUBBING what-so-ever, but my truck is leveled.

Without pictures you might as well have just put some painted steel rims from JC Whitney on it.......

Sorry Had to make a run to the Farmer's Market & cut the lawn. Going out to snap some quick pictures now. I don't want any comments on how filthy the truck is or how brown my lawn is tho! Will update when I have them in my gallery (give me an hour).

Well, here we go! I snapped about 10 pics, so I just created a new photo deal in my gallery. Enjoy!

Looks nice.

Nice to see a truck without a set of 951's on it around here every once in awhile too.

Thanks! Like almost everyone else, I do like the 951's. However, they're not right for my truck...

I've always liked the MB Bruzers, but didn't want to step up to a 20" wheel. My next option would have been the Gunners, but I don't really like the 6 spoke version for our trucks. These are painted like the Bruzers, have the same spoke design as the Gunners and are 8 spoke. I'm not sure what the backspacing is, but they fit with plenty of clearance (even tho Discount Tire said they wouldn't!).

With the 18" FX4 wheels & the 285/60 Terra Grapplers I had rubbing at full turn in reverse on the drivers side. It was very minor, but it was still there. I thought these would be the same or worse, but I've turned every which way I could think of in an empty parking lot. It did drop my RPM's significantly. A lot of people say to keep the truck under 2,000 RPM's for fuel economy. With the smaller tires & 4.10's that just wasn't an option. If I remember right these are right at 33.6" x 12.0" if anyone is wondering.

For those of you who have the BFG AT KO's, do they wear pretty good? I haven't had a set for 15 years

Next mod, get rid of that stupid tonnau cover and put a small tool box in it's place. Can anyone point in the direction of a nice low-profile one? These trucks are hard enough to back up without a ~4" tall obstruction!
