Fuel mileage per EPA

This site recalculates the fuel mileage rating as it will be in 2008. It works for vehicles back in the 90s to new ones. Amazingly, it hit my 3 vehicles almost exactly except I can get a little better on the highway.

Wow, they are pretty accurate as to all the vehicles I've owned.

Nice find.

I checked three of my vehicles and two that I have records for that I since sold.
They were closest on my Tracker, but the old EPA was closer on all the vehicles.
And since I live in mountain/high desert and run blend gas year round (thanks, California) I get worse mileage than most should.

It looks like they just took the EPA figures and dropped them by a sliding percentage.

12 - 16 mph for a 5.4 sounds about right, but ouch. Ford is going to have to do something.....hybrid F-150 anyone? I wouldn't buy a FFV seeing they get maybe 9-10 MPG on ethanol.

I guess ill be getting an Edge sooner than I thought

I have an 05 Screw and 2000 Expedition, and both get a lot better than their numbers.

I actually get slightly better than the old EPA estimate in my '99 Dakota V6 5 speed. It's rated for 16/22mpg, and I've averaged 22.1 and 22.3 on my last two fill-ups, at about 90% highway driving. Then again, the land in south AR is completely flat, so that probably helps me out, too. Good to know I'm getting better than what my truck is rated for.

I'm right around the new EPA estimates. I've averaged 14.2 when it was real cold out. My last tank the temperatures were in the 40's and I average 15mpg. I check the averages for my 2005 Tacoma I just sold and it was way off.

I checked my vehicles and all three of mine are a hair better than the old estimates.

What's with the new estimates? Did they get a NHRA drag driver to test them?

I was wondering the same thing, my truck is getting better gas mileage than both of their figures riding on some heavy @$$ 37" tires.

My cousin said his 4.6 burns more gas than my 5.4.
