07 F-150 Stx

Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting an 07 F-150 STX SC. I haven't really followed the F-150s since the came out in 04 so i've probably missed some stuff in the time between, lol. So anyway, I was wondering if there was anything I should look for or get or annything else you'd like to add. Some pictures of yours would be cool too. Thanks.

don't get an STX because you can't get the 5.4...BIGGEST mistake I ever made

I guess it all depends on what youre going to be doing with it. If youre not going to be really using it like a truck is supposed to be used (i.e. construction work, towing, etc.) it wouldn't be bad. Hell I would say half of the people who own trucks don't use them for what they are. But if you do plan on using it like its supposed to, I would definately say get the bigger engine. I tow pretty frequently and let me tell you I would love the 5.4. I have quads that I tow in the summer and then a 27' enclosed snowmobile trailer in the winter and I would love more power. I'm not saying the truck CANT do it, I'm just saying it would be a lot easier with the bigger motor. Just go and test drive the truck youre looking at and then drive one with the 5.4 and make your own decision. Good luck.

Most of the people here buy the 5.4 because they are:

1. rich and can afford the gas
2. yuppies who just commute using a "fx4" 4x4 with said 5.4, and 4.10 posi
3. it is the biggest, must be the baddest
4. some idiot kid who didnt even BUY the truck, but is the son of some overzealous dad living vicariously through his son (these are the people who post "smoked a chevy or nissan today" posts)

not because they need it, its more of a status thing if you ask me

I have one with the V6 and it does the job I ask of it, plus it gets good gas mileage and cost me a whole lot less than the 4.6 and 5.4

Hell, most of the contractors with single cab long bed XL's have either he v6 or 4.6 in them, that ought to tell you something

i perfer my 4.2 over the 5.4, its got plent or power for me, gets 20mpg around town, and about 23 on the interstate. your 5.4 is getting 12 around town because you like the sound of your exhaust and insist on racing stop light to stop light with those titains and chevy's.

A v6 in my truck would get worse mileage than the 5.4 currently does. Your description doesn't hold water for the vast majority here.

I'm happy with the 4.6

for whatever that's worth. It's not a race car, and the 4.6 has plenty of power for me. Thought I don't tow anything, if you tow anything heavy the larger V8 would be better.

I had a 2000 4.2 V6 and the engine wasnt bad, but if I hauled something it SUCKED..... You are obviously talking out of your ***!!! I got a 5.4 b/c it's a F'ng truck and I haul stuff. Oh yeah whats the trade in value of your truck with the 4.2?????? yeah thats what I thought. And yes when I'm getting my 15mpg"in the city" in my 5.4 listening to my sweet exhaust and whooping your truck red light to red light while towing my boat and I will be smiling like a ****.

P.S.- If you cant afford filling up once a week then you shouldn't even look at a truck, so whats your point??? I get around 17/18 highway

wow I never knew that someone asking about the pros and cons of an STX could resolve into a pissing match and people bickering like little school girls over why their truck is "better" than everyone elses. Like I said above, examine exactly what you need the truck to do for you and that will ultimately answer your own question. If you tow frequently, go with the bigger engine. If not, the 4.6 can do just fine if you dont need the extra power.

You also have to understand that the 04+ trucks are way heavier than the previous models. At least get the 4.6 its a great engine for everyday use. 5.4 if you want to haul or maybe have to haul. If you want the 4.2 the new sport trac may suit your style better but the 4.2 will be struggling try to push these hogs.

I had a 05 STX and didnt do much hauling or towing, but when I did you could tell there was a smaller v8 in there. Dont get me wrong the STX is a great truck for the price, just not as much go (except going pass the gas station) that you would get with the 5.4

Not much to add with my 06 FX4 - more options, more power, more money.....So its up to what you need and what you can afford. The only reason I went to a FX4 was that I got 0%

Everyone on here has their own opinion and WAY different budgets.
