Light Leak?

So I bought a brand new '06 truck from a local dealership. I have had this truck for about 6 months now and have had no problems with it until recently. I brought my truck inside lastnight and I noticed that water was leaking from my overhead console as well as my dome light, soaking my front seats as well as my back seat. I read on a different forum online that it was caused by a 3rd brake light malfunction. So I called the "stealership" today and told them my problem and they said "oh its just moisture leaking through the roof, its been a common problem and we cant do anything about it. You should try and wipe your feet before you get into the vehicle, so when the snow melts it doesnt cause moisture build up". If this is the cause why doesnt it happen in other vehicles? Anyways, I called Ford Canada and they said the same thing, that they cant cover it under warrenty because the truck is operating like it should, except for the known leak in the roof. So here I am with a truck that leaks, my seats have water damage all over them and I paid over $40 000 for the truck and they wont do a damn thing for me. So I think I am going to go to Chevy to get the new Silverado.

Now don't get me wrong its not the dealerships problem, they have tried to help me out in the past but if its a so called "common problem" why doesn't Ford help the dealership out. Unless the dealership is just trying to pull the wool over my eyes, because they dont want to pay out for the warrenty. But in either case, I am NOT HAPPY with this company as a whole right now.

It's not Ford's fault, it's your dealership's.

Find a new dealership. .

It's more than likely the 3rd brakelight. Mine did the same thing a few weeks back and instead of going through the 'stealership', I opted to do the work myself. It cost me $43, but now I have a NEW brakelight with the thick gasket instead of a worked over used one that came on the truck and have to take back a week later for the same problem. I know that it should have been covered under warranty, but lets face it, I don't have time to leave my truck at a lot for several days.

I read in a previous post how to test the 3rd brake light for leaking.
1. Roll up all windows
2. Put soapy water around the 3rd brake light
3. Turn on your heater (or fan on full)
4. Shut the door.
5. See if the soapy water bubbles around the 3rd tail light. If it does, you have a bad gasket.

X2. This is far easier & faster to fix ( RTV), than it is to debate here...

LOTS of posts on both the problem and it's cure. You need only to quickly look, then pick your preferred fix method.

And yes - find another Dealer !!!! Can you imagine them handling a real problem? Like a stuck injector, or a broken plug?

Good luck.

Cheers
Bubba

PS: I had this problem in my 2004 F-150, I just used a silicone sealer and fixed it myself.
