Anybody getting a tax credit for your FFV?

I am wondering if there is a tax credit for Flex Fuel Vehicles bought and used in 2006. My F150 is a FFV, but the only credits I can find are for Hybrids. According to tax laws, there should be a credit available for FFV's, but I don't have any idea how much to claim or if I can really claim anything at all?.?.?.?

I thought the same thing. Turbo Tax had me all psyched for this credit. They should have mentioned from the get go that your ride has to be on that list of about 20 cars and trucks in order to qualify. I wonder why some of the chebbys qualify?

Bastards!

I thought that it *had* to be a hybrid -- not just a FFV? Doesn't really matter for me behind the wheel of a 05'...

Here's some info from the horse's mouth...

I don't think it does have to be on the list, there is another section to enter the make and model if your vehicle isn't on the list. The current list is the certified IRS list for hybrids, but the deduction is also for alternative fuel vehicles, including 85% ethanol vehicles.

Here is the link I found

http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/...153397,00.html

Note this paragraph:

Alternative fuel vehicles include those fueled by compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, hydrogen, and any liquid that is at least 85 percent methanol. The maximum allowable credit for vehicles weighing 8,500 pounds or less is $4,000.

It has to be a vehicle on this list and the amount of the credit goes down after the manufacturer sells like 60,000 of that particular vehicle. Believe me, I wanted this credit and researched the hell out of it. It's just that Turbo Tax had language that said "your vehicle qualifies if it is capable of burning E85," or something like that. Then, it isn't on the list of gov't "certified" vehicles. That Escape hybrid is worth some ching, if you bought one of those last year, though.

Model Year 2006

Chevrolet Silverado 2WD Hybrid Pickup Truck — $250
Chevrolet Silverado 4WD Hybrid Pickup Truck — $650
Ford Escape Hybrid (Front) 2WD — $2,600
Ford Escape Hybrid 4WD — $1,950
GMC Sierra 2WD Hybrid Pickup Truck — $250

Honda Accord Hybrid AT w/updated calibration and Navi AT w/updated calibration — $1,300*
Honda Civic Hybrid CVT — $2,100
Honda Insight CVT — $1,450
Lexus RX400h 2WD — $1,100†
Lexus RX400h 4WD — $1,100†
Mercury Mariner Hybrid 4WD — $1,950
Toyota Highlander 2WD Hybrid — $1,300†
