Why the heck are the front rotors on a 2004 f-150 Supercrew so expensive? I noticed that the 4WD and HD payload package rotors are cheaper?

Anyways, I am out of town on assignment, and my wife takes truck to Brake Check after some noises....they want $880 for replacing front rotors, machining rear rotors, all new ceramic pads all around, bleed brake lines, and this all comes with a lifetime replacement warranty...does this sound excessive?

 

Go check E-bay or other sites you can get a qualty rotor set for under $400 Don't buy junk from the dealer or a brake shop.

is there some sort of "special" nut or something from Ford that you need? And maybe I was dreaming, but I thought the Brake check guy said that you cant turn the front rotors for the new body style fords

 

they can be turned the dealer wanted to do mine for like 275ish I told the service guy i'll just buy better rotors for that price.

 

I'm about to roll 43,000 and last thursday the dealer told me the front pads were at 3mm and the rear at 5mm and i shouldnt drive another 300 miles. He quoted me at 475 for a rotor cut and pads on the front only. I hate how the dealer always is trying to make a quick hundo off the working middle class.
